#WNAC2015 Glitter + Stamping

Today is my Friday!  I am off tomorrow and Friday and my boyfriend and I will be going on a mini-vacation with his cousins.  I will be sure to provide more details upon my return.  Since I won't be around a computer on Friday, I am sharing this week's #WNAC2015 prompt today.  Since June's theme was patterns, I knew a stamped mani would be an easy way to fit a pattern in.  However, I did want to spice it up a bit and decided to use a new glitter topper I picked up a few weeks ago.

For this mani, I started with a base of Sinful Colors Candy Coated.  I then put one coat of Nails Inc. Primrose Hill Walk on each nail.  This is chock full of gorgeous matte glitters in various pastels and deep purple shades.  The formula was very easy to work with and I didn't have to dig for the larger pieces.  This is from Nails Inc.'s new Luxe Boho line that consists of several matte glitter polishes.  This is my first Nails Inc. purchase since they changed their bottle shape, and I actually don't mind it as much as I thought I would.  Its very classy looking.

I then added a coat of Seche Vite before stamping using stamping plate QA88 from Born Pretty Store and stamped with Deborah Lippmann This One's On Me.  Overall, this mani looked kind of busy, but I actually really like it.  I love the subtle glitter in the background combined with the stamping.  Hope everyone has a good rest of your week!

#WNAC2015 Turquoise Ikat

Happy Friday!  Only three more work days (after today) until vacation!  Since I will be gone the latter half of next week, I will actually be posting next week's WNAC mani mid-week, and then it will go on Instagram on Friday, as usual.  Today, I have this week's prompt, which is turquoise.

I finally broke down last week and bought acrylic paints.  For no real reason, I had been determined for so long to be polish-only, but I really love some of the looks that can be created with acrylic paint.  So I decided to pick up black and white and try them out for my ikat design to see if I liked them.  And let me just say, I think it was a success!

For this mani, I started with a base of Aliquid Lacquer Puppy Love, which was a special release polish in the fall with a portion of the proceeds going to the ASPCA.  I love this polish, and it certainly doesn't get used enough.  After applying topcoat, I then added the white blobs using acrylic paint.  Once dry, I added Zoya Wednesday on top and then added the black using more acrylic paint.

This mani was so easy to do!  I absolutely love working with acrylic paints - they dried quickly and don't build up a thickness on the nail.  So be sure to expect more freehand nail art using the paints in the future!  Overall, I am very pleased with the way this turned out and have been bursting at the seams to share it with you.  Hope everyone has a great weekend and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Deborah Lippmann - I've Gotta Be Me Nail Art

Happy Hump Day!  Unfortunately, I thought today was Thursday, but oh well.  Today I have a simple stamped mani using two colors from the Deborah Lippmann I've Gotta Be Me set that was released last fall for their 15th anniversary.  My brother got it for me for Christmas, and while I have used several shades from the set, none of them have made it on the blog yet.

For this look, I started with a base of You've Got a Friend, a pink-leaning nude.  I love shades like this because they are definitely more nude on me than yellow based nudes (i.e. My Vampire is Buff).  This polish has great formula and is a solid two-coater.

I then used my trusty QA88 stamping plate from Born Pretty Store, and stamped with This One's On Me, a reddish-purple shimmer shade.  This polish is extremely opaque and is perfect for stamping.  In the bottle it definitely appears more red, but when I stamped the shimmer came to life appeared more purple.  It almost reminded me of Max Factor Fantasy Fire.  And while this shade is definitely not a dupe (though I don't own it to compare), the shimmer reminded me of that shade.

For a look at swatches from the full set, I recommend these by Peachy Polish.  I have not worn This One's On Me on its own, but I am definitely intrigued about how it looks, especially because of the swatches by Peachy Polish and the visible shimmer in my stamping.  Overall, these are great polishes, and I'm so glad I got to try out my first Deborah Lippmann polishes!

#WNAC2015 Holo Leopard Print

This week I have been so unmotivated to paint my nails, so I didn't have a mid-week mani for you.  I will have one next week though!  I am slowly but surely counting down the days until vacation...only eight more work days!

This week's #WNAC2015 prompt is holo.  So I decided to go with leopard print for my pattern and created this holo leopard print mani, loosely inspired by this mani by Love Varnish.  The colors used in this mani were Sinful Colors Sail La Vie, Orly Mirrorball, and Sinful Colors Black on Black.  I ordered my very first Target Beauty Box last week and it arrived on Monday, so I decided to use Sail La Vie, which was included in the box for this mani.  I will try and get a summary post of the beauty box up in the next few weeks, which will be the first non-nail polish ever on the blog!

I started with Sail La Vie on my thumb, index, and middle fingers, and Mirrorball on the other two.  Once Sail La Vie was dry, I added dots of Mirrorball and then added Black on Black to complete the leopard print pattern.

Overall, this was a super simple mani, but was also really pretty!  I don't think I've shown Mirrorball on the blog before, but I am SO glad I picked it up.  The holo hex glitters completely make this polish for me.  Sail La Vie had decent formula, though a little on the thick side.  I have several other Sinful Colors polishes that are very close in color to this one, so maybe there will be a comparison post somewhere along the line as well!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

#WNAC2015 Coral Gradient Dotticure

Happy Friday!  Just a quick update from Wednesday's post, but the Gator softball team won, so we are back to back national champions in softball!  The baseball team is in the Super Regionals facing FSU this weekend, and tickets sold out in 30 minutes yesterday.  So needless to say, we will be watching from the comfort of our air conditioned house instead.

Today I have the first prompt for #WNAC2015 for June.  The theme this month is patterns and then we are given a color to use.  Here is a link to the photo for the challenge.  Today's prompt is the color coral.  I decided to do a gradient dotticure, since I've never done one!

For this mani, I started with a base of China Glaze White on White.  I then sponged on a gradient using White on White, CG Flip Flop Fantasy, and elf Flirty Fuchsia.  Once the gradient dried I added white dots over the gradient and topped the whole thing off with a coat of Seche Vite.

While I do like how this turned out (especially after it was all smoothed out by the Seche), I was a little annoyed because little bits of the sponge came off and were sticking to my nails causing rough spots.  Overall, I just love the color coral, so its a win in my book.  Have a great weekend!

Neon Half Moons Using China Glaze

Good morning!  I'm hoping today goes by fast since I definitely thought yesterday was Wednesday until about 3:00pm.  But indeed, it is now Wednesday and we are another day closer to the weekend.  The two weeks have been filled with lots of softball.  Last night was the second game of the Women's College World Series, and the Gators are hoping to repeat as champions, though they lost last night.  They are in a must-win situation tonight, so Go Gators!

Even though May's WNAC2015 prompts are over, I am still feeling the neon!  I used all China Glaze colors for this one!  I started with a base of Purple Panic.  I then used single chevron nail vinyls from Nails Redesigned to create the half moon shape at the base of my nail and added I Sea the Point.  After that dried, I added another chevron vinyl and Turned Up Turquoise on top.

I love how the non-neon of I Sea the Point really makes the other two pop.  The shimmer in both Purple Panic and Turned Up Turquoise is also really evident.  I will be back on Friday with the first prompt for June's WNAC2015!  The theme for this month is patterns, and Friday's prompt is coral!  I really love how this mani turned out and can't wait to share it with you.
