Florida Gator Nails - UF vs Kentucky

Hello!  I am back with my first post since I've been back from vacation!  Since I last blogged, I got engaged!  The day before we went on vacation my boyfriend proposed to me.  If you want to see the ring, be sure to check my Instagram!  Our vacation was centered around attending the Florida vs. Kentucky game in Lexington, KY, so these are the nails I rocked most of our vacation.

I started with a base of China Glaze Stoked to be Soaked.  On my ring finger, I applied small chevron nail vinyls from Nails Redesigned and topped it with China Glaze I Sea the Point.  On my other nails I used I Sea the Point and White on White to create the dotted pattern at the cuticle.

This mani held up surprisingly well.  I wore it for five days, and there was only mild tip wear on a few nails.  I also brought Zoya Dhara, which is what I wore for the remainder of the trip.  We had a great time, but I'm also glad to be back and in a routine!

#WNAC2015 - Plaid

Happy Friday!  I will be back from vacation next week, so I may not have a mid-week post for you, but I will be back with the first #WNAC2015 of October and my first Twinsie Tuesday post on October 6.  Today's prompt is Plaid.  As soon as I saw this prompt at the beginning of the month I was excited because I knew there was a plaid image on one of my new stamping plates from Born Pretty Store.

For this mani, I started out with a base of Zoya Sarah.  I really love Sarah a) because it's my name and b) because it is the perfect shade of garnet - my birthstone.  It's like this polish was made for me!  I then stamped using BP-L-006 and Sally Hansen Navy Baby.

I really love how this turned out!  It makes me excited for fall and flannel shirts.  I hope everyone has a good weekend and I will be back from vacation next week and regular posting will resume the first week of October.

#WNAC2015 - Mix N Match

Let me start off by saying - this mani was a bit rushed.  I wanted to make sure I had #WNAC2015 manis prepared before I left on vacation, so I know this isn't my best work. Anywho, today's prompt is Mix N Match.  Since I have many of the Zoya Pixie Dusts in beautiful jewel tones, I decided to a Mix N Match textured mani.

For this mani, I started with a base of Zoya Carter.  I then used various nail vinyl shapes from Nails Redesigned to create this mani, including straights, small and large chevrons, and triangles.  My pinkie finger is supposed to be dots, but unfortunately, not all of the colors were visible over Carter.  The other polishes I used in this mani are Zoya Chita, Dhara, Sunshine, and Arabella.

This was definitely more of a "fun" mani and not so much a wearable one.  I will be back next week with a plaid mani that is definitely wearable and makes me excited for the coming fall and winter season!  Have a great weekend!

Florida Gator Nails - UF vs East Carolina

Woohoo!  Today is my Friday, since we start our vacation tomorrow!  Today, I have the orange and blue skittles I rocked at the Florida football game against East Carolina University.  I went to the game with my in-laws and had a great time, even if we did try to lose the game...

For this mani, I started with China Glaze Stoked to be Soaked on my thumb, index and pinkie fingers, China Glaze I Sea the Point on my middle finger, and Zoya Dhara on my ring finger.  I then used Nails Redesigned straight nail vinyls to create the stripes and layered I Sea the Point over the orange nails.  Unfortunately there was a bit of streaking when I added topcoat, but it wasn't horribly noticeable in real life.

Overall, this was a fun and easy mani.  I have to do my Gator nails a bit early this week since we leave so soon before the game, so I will likely be doing them tonight!  Hopefully we can bring the team some good luck since we'll be attending this weekend's game against Kentucky as well!  My plan is to have two scheduled posts go while I'm gone - the two #WNAC2015 prompts for the remainder of September, but we'll see if that happens or not! ;)

#WNAC2015 - Dry Marble

Happy Friday!  Counting today, I only have three more work days until vacation!  I do want to go ahead and let everyone know that there will be a bit of radio silence as I will be on vacation the next two weeks, but I should be back with posts in late September or early October at the latest.  I will still be keeping up with the #WNAC2015 prompts on Instagram, but won't blog about them until after the fact.  I also have some more exciting news: I have been invited to join the Twinsie Tuesday group!  Starting in October, I will now be posting weekly with the ladies of Twinsie Tuesday.

And now on to what you came here for - the mani!  This week's #WNAC2015 prompt is dry marble.  I have only done one semi-successful dry marble, and it was actually part of my Gator Nails for last year's game against Kentucky.  This time I used two colors from the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line: Combustealable and Too Haute.

For this mani, I started with a base of Too Haute, followed by a coat of Seche Vite.  I then painted half the nail using Combustealable and the other half Too Haute, and swirled them together using a dotting tool.  I really love how this turned out!  It sort of has fan brush technique look to it.  I really think have the base color already on the nail really helped so I wasn't scraping polish off with bare nail underneath, which has been my problem in the past.

Overall, this was a super easy mani and I love this look!  I really want to try this with my orange and blue polishes since I really don't think an orange and blue gradient would look good and this could be an easy alternative.  I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I should have at least one post next week before I go on vacation!

Florida Gator Nails - UF vs New Mexico State

Happy College Football Season!  This past weekend was the official start of college football - my favorite time of year!  So, anyone who has followed the blog for any length of time knows, that this means the start of my weekly "Gator Nails" posts!  Each week of the college football season, I will put together a different orange and blue nail art look.

For this mani, I used the Florida Game Day Duo from Color Club and triangle nail vinyls from Nails Redesigned.  I started with a base of the orange polish, applied the nail vinyls and then layered the blue over top.  Unfortunately, due to the flash from my camera you can see all the imperfections of the blue layered on top.

Overall, I really loved this look and it looked great from a distance.  The football game against New Mexico State also went well - we won 61-13.  This weekend we place East Carolina and I will be attending the game.  I'll be back on Friday with my #WNAC2015 mani!

#WNAC2015 - Stained Glass Nails

Happy Friday!  I'm excited for this weekend since it is the start of the college football season!  I will share my first installment of Gator Nails for the 2015 season on Instagram tomorrow, but look out for the post next week.  Today I have this week's prompt for #WNAC2015 - stained glass nails!  For September we're using jewel tones for our manis, so I thought what better polishes to use than my Azatures!

I started with a base of Azature Wine Diamond on each nail.  I then made my first stamping decals using the reverse stamping technique!  Let me tell you, it's a lot more difficult than those quick videos on Instagram make it seem!  To create my decals I used an image from BP-L-003 and Sinful Colors Black on Black.  I then filled in the pattern using Azature Blue Diamond and Platinum Diamond.  Once dry, I topcoated the design using Seche Vite and carefully picked it up and placed it on the nail.

It took forever for the polish to dry on the stamper head, so I can definitely see where having multiple stamper heads or one of those fancy mats from UberChic would come in handy!  It is also a pain to do all that cleanup since the decal was larger than my nail.  Next time I think I will trim the decal using scissors before applying it (or immediately after applying it to the nail).

Overall, I really love how this turned out!  Especially considering it is my first time making decals.  These Azature colors are also beautiful and I'm glad my boyfriend gave them to me for Christmas last year!  I hope everyone has a great Labor Day Weekend!
