#WNAC2015 - Holographic Halloween Nails

Happy Halloween!  I had planned on having this post up yesterday, but my computer decided to hide my pictures from me and I happened to find them today, so all was not lost!  This week's prompt for #WNAC2015 is Holoween.  My fiance and I dressed up as a dead bride and groom for Halloween (see Instagram for pictures!) and I knew I wanted to paint my nails black.  Since I knew I had to incorporate a holo polish for WNAC, I decided to go with Zoya Storm.

While on vacation in Kentucky last month, I had to go stalk the polish displays in Rite Aid, since we don't have them in Florida.  While there, I found this cute jack-o-lantern polish bottle with black and white skull glitters.  Since I wanted to add a little something to my black nails, I decided to fish out the white skulls and place one at the cuticle on each nail.  Which, by the way, was a pain in the butt!

I used one coat of the polish on each nail and stuck the white skull glitter in it, and followed with a nice thick coat of Seche Vite.  The skull polish also had some small opalescent glitter, which you can kind of see in a few of the pictures.  I was just glad that it didn't dull the holo of Storm.  Overall, this was a simple mani, but perfect to go with my Halloween costume.  I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!

Twinsie Tuesday - Inspired by the Season

This week's prompt for Twinsie Tuesday is inspired by the season.  Even though we don't have as defined seasons in Florida as most other places, we do get cooler weather and some color change.  I love the beautiful color change that happens throughout the country in the fall, and used that as my inspiration for this mani.

I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff.  I then did a stamping gradient using China Glaze Thataway and Passion.  I thought the metallic, shimmery orange and gold would look great as fall colors.  However, Thataway ended up looking kind of peachy over My Vampire is Buff, but overall I am pleased with how it turned out.  I used BP-L024 to stamp the leaf design.

Overall, I really like how this turned out, especially considering it was my first time trying out the gradient stamp technique.  Fall is definitely my favorite season and I love our Florida falls.  Be sure to check out the fall inspired manis from the other Twinsies!

#WNAC2015 - Pink Houndstooth

Happy Friday!  This has been a very long week, and I am excited for the weekend!  This week is the bye week for the Gators, so no Gator Nails, but I will be back next week with my nails for the Georgia game!  Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I decided to do a pink-holo-houndstooth (say that 10 times fast!) mani for this today's #WNAC2015 prompt!

For this mani, I started with a base of Milani Digital.  This is from the holo line they put out three (!) years ago.  I have all but the gold and green polishes from this collection and I really wish I could find them to complete it!  These polishes have a unique holo glitter shards that are really pretty in direct sunlight.  I then used BP-L-006 from the Born Pretty Store to stamp the houndstooth image on each nail using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pink Blink.

I had originally planned to stamp in black over Digital, but for some reason my stamper would not pick up my go-to black polish.  Luckily I know most creme polishes from the Insta-Dri line work for stamping, and was able to have a quick recovery using Pink Blink.  Overall, I love how this turned out!  It's subtle in real life, but looks great in these photos.  Have a great weekend!

Twinsie Tuesday - Florida Gator Ruffian Nails

Hello!  Today I have a bit of a combo post.  This week's Twinsie Tuesday prompt is ruffian, which is a technique I've never done before.  I'm sure many of you are familiar with my weekly nail art series where I do orange and blue nails for each Florida Gator football game during the season.  I decided to combine the two prompts and do orange and blue ruffians!

I started with China Glaze I Sea the Point and Stoked to be Soaked.  I then applied french tip guides from Nails Redesigned to the cuticle of each nail.  I then added Zoya Dhara and Sunshine to the respective orange and blue nails to create the ruffian design.

Overall, this was a super easy mani to create, and I really like how it turned out.  I did these nails for last weekend's loss to LSU.  Considering the circumstances, the Gators played really well, and lost respectably.  Be sure to check out the ruffian manis from the other Twinsies!

Florida Gator Nails - UF vs. Missouri

Hello!  I am now almost caught up on all my Gator nail posts!  I should be posting my nails from this past weekend's game against LSU and be completely caught up!  Today's nail are those that I wore for last week's game against Missouri.  I have been wanting to do an orange and blue stamped mani, and I'm really excited with how this turned out.

For this mani, I started with a base of China Glaze White on White.  I then stamped using China Glaze Stoked to be Soaked and BP-L-024 stamping plate from Born Pretty Store.  I was really impressed with how well this image and polish stamped.  Even though I have been practicing stamping, I still don't always have the best execution or polishes that stamp well.  Once the orange was dry, I went back and added blue dots for the center of each flower using China Glaze I Sea the Point.

Overall, I love how this turned out!  The orange looks a little more like Tennessee orange than Gator orange, but we weren't playing them, so it was ok in my book!  I'm excited to try more orange and blue stamped manis!  Also, the Gators were successfully able to defeat the Mizzou Tigers 21-3, which led us to be 6-0 to start the season!

Florida Gator Nails - UF vs. Ole Miss

Hello!  As I mentioned yesterday, I am playing a bit of catch up to get all my Gator nails posted!  I've been really busy the last few weeks, and have only been able to get my #WNAC2015 and Twinsie Tuesday posts written up, even though I've had these nails done each week.  Always be sure to follow me on Instagram, to see my Gator nails on game day!

Today's nails are what I did for the Gator game versus Ole Miss back at the beginning of the month.  For this mani I decided to do the dry brush technique.  Let me start by saying, this looked a lot better in my head than it did on my nails.  I started with a base of China Glaze White on White.  I then used CG I Sea the Point and Stoked to be Soaked to create the dry brush.  And then, since I wasn't satisfied, I did a bit of glitter placement using Jindie Nails Chomp Chomp.  Overall, not my favorite mani, but still orange and blue!

I think I speak for most Gator fans when I say this, but going into this game I surely thought we were going to lose to Ole Miss.  But they apparently didn't get off the bus in Gainesville, because we walked all over them that night!  It was insane - and we won 38-10!

Florida Gator Nails - UF vs. Tennessee

Hello!  I have an unusual Saturday post for you today!  Since I'm three weeks behind posting my Gator Nails, I'm going to try and knock them all out in the next few days, so you may see a few more posts than usual.  Today, I have the nails I wore for the Tennessee game, the first game after we got back from vacation.

For this mani, I decided to go with a simple gradient, however I used two textured polishes to create this look.  I started with a base of Zoya Dhara.  Once dry, I sponged on a gradient of Dhara and Sunshine.  It was a little harder to blend them, compared to using creme polishes for a gradient, but I think it turned out pretty good.

I received a lot of compliments on these nails, and they were well liked on Instagram.  In the end, the Gators were able to pull out a win over Tennessee.  It was a real nail-biter, and we only won because their kicker missed the final field goal of the game - we lucked out!

#WNAC2015 - Pastel Galaxy Nails

Happy Friday!  I'm actually on a bit of a mini-vacation while I house and dog-sit for my parents while they travel to Savannah, GA for their 30th wedding anniversary!  So a little bit of an nontraditional Friday for me.  Today's prompt for #WNAC2015 is galaxy.  I have previously done galaxy nails here and here, so this time I decided to go with pastel galaxy nails!

I started with a base of Revlon Provence, a dusty, muted lavender shade and then sponged on these colors: China Glaze White on White, Avon Bon Voyage Violet, Sally Hansen Pink Blink, Nails Inc. Chelsea Physic Garden, and Pure Ice Home Run.  And to make it fit within the holo theme for the month, I finished it off by sponging on Orly Sparkling Garbage.

We also went to see the band Walk the Moon in concert on Wednesday night and these are the nails I wore to the concert.  In case you haven't heard of WtM, they sing the "Shut Up and Dance" song.  The concert was awesome and we had a great time.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and Go Gators!

Twinsie Tuesday - Inspired by Your Favorite Fictional Character

Hello!  Today's Twinsie Tuesday prompt is inspired by your favorite fictional character.  This prompt was actually pretty difficult for me.  I'm not a someone who really gets obsessed or super excited about things.  I've read and enjoyed the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Twilight, etc. and seen all the movies and watch various tv shows, but I just don't get super excited.  Music and sports are more what I get obsessed with, but there are no fictional characters there.

I decided to go with a character from a book series I'm currently reading.  I started the Outlander series earlier this year, and am currently reading the second book, Dragonfly in Amber.  I decided to base my nails on the protagonist, Jamie Fraser's tartan colors.

I started with a base of Revlon Blue Slate.  I then stamped using Kleancolor Coffee Addict and BL-L-006 from Born Pretty Store.  Overall, it is a pretty simple mani, but I really like the color combination.  I also know there is an Outlander tv show, but I would rather just read the books, I'm boring like that!  Be sure to check out what characters inspired the other Twinsies!
