Twinsie Tuesday - Grey and Gold

I am really excited to share today's nails with you, as I LOVE how they turned out.  This week's Twinsie Tuesday prompt is grey and gold.  While my base color ended up being a lot darker grey than I had anticipated, it still fits the prompt and I am super pleased with how it turned out.

For this mani, I started with a base of Essie Stylenomics, a dark grey creme.  I'm typically not the biggest fan of Essie's formula but Stylenomics had a good formula, which was not overly thin.  It was also nearly a one-coater.  I then sponged Pretty and Polished Heist onto each nail using a cosmetic sponge.  You can't see the fine gold flakies as much as I had anticipated, but I'm still glad I added this layer.  I then stamping using China Glaze Passion, a metallic gold and a rose image from Born Pretty Store stamping plate BP-L024.

I am absolutely in love with this mani.  I have recently been very frustrated with stamping, so this successful attempt has reinvigorated my desire to keep at it.  I'm also hoping to purchase a few of the stamping polishes from Born Pretty Store for my birthday, to hopefully continue my interest in stamping.  Be sure to check out the other grey and gold manis from the other Twinsies below!

Sally Girl Peppermint

Hello!  I am finally getting a few extra manis posted that I've had the photos edited, but no posts written!  Today's look is a swatch of Sally Girl Peppermint.  This is a holiday polish I picked up from Sally's while doing some Christmas shopping for my sister in law.

Peppermint is a red and white crelly.  Each nail had one coat of China Glaze White on White for undies and then two coats of Peppermint over top.  The formula for Peppermint was great!  There was little to no fishing for glitters, which was great considering how glitter-packed this polish is!

Peppermint bark is one of my favorite holiday treats and this polish reminded me of it immediately, so I knew I had to have it!  With the red and white color combo, I could definitely see this polish also being used in a Valentine's Day mani.  So I may try to incorporate this polish into an upcoming Valentine's Day look!

Twinsie Tuesday - Shattered Glass

Hello!  Today, the Twinsies are back with shattered glass nails.  Shattered glass nails were a major trend in 2015.  This technique is typically executed using iridescent nail foils.  Back in November, I attempted the shattered glass technique using holographic filler paper from the Dollar Tree.  While not the same look, I did like how it turned out.  This time I decided to go a different route.

I decided to use a flakie polish to create my shattered glass look.  A few years ago, Sinful Colors Green Ocean was one of the most sought after polishes.  Submitting to the craze, I of course searched for it (and found it while on vacation I believe) but have never used it, until now!

For this mani, I started with a base of Native War Paints My Favorite Sweater HDF.  I picked up several NWP polishes on sale around the holidays, and should have swatches up soon.  My Favorite Sweater is a beautiful blue-green teal with gold shimmer.  I then placed the flakies from Green Ocean on my middle and ring finger nails for shattered glass accent nails.

In hindsight, the colors may have been too similar, and were a bit hard to photograph.  But fortunately, thanks to daylight, I was able to get a few good shots without using flash.  This usually doesn't happen since I don't home until after dark everyday.  Be sure to check out the other shattered glass looks below!

Twinsie Tuesday - Words

I wasn't quite sure what to for this prompt.  Then I remembered I had some water decals from a Fingr's nail art set I picked up several years ago.  I wasn't sure if they would still be any good, but they did work well enough to create this mani!  I previously used these water decals in a "love letter" Valentine's Day nail design from two years.

I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff.  I then used the dry brush technique to add the sparkly gold of China Glaze Mingle with Kringle.  I then applied the water decals to each nail.

My goal with this mani was to create an aged look to the "paper" the words were written on.  I also wanted to finish the look with matte topcoat, but cannot find my matte topcoat anywhere!  I reorganized a lot of my polish during the holidays, and now I can't find anything.  Be sure to check out the other Twinsie's looks below.

Twinsie Tuesday - Dotticure

Hello!  The Twinsies are back for the start of 2016!  This week's prompt is dotticure.  For this mani, I used three colors: OPI My Vampire is Buff, elf Skinny Jeans, and elf Purple Pleaser.  I started with My Vampire is Buff on my thumb, ring, and pinkie nails, with Skinny Jeans and Purple Pleaser on my index and middle fingers respectively.  Once dry, I used a dotting tool to dot Skinny Jeans and Purple Pleaser over My Vampire is Buff.

Overall, this was a really simple manicure, which is good for me since I am slowly working my way back into nail art.  I took a bit of a break in December, and while I still painted my nails, I did a lot less nail art.  I am definitely looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, and you should see more acrylic paint work from me in the next few months as my fiance got me a huge assorted acrylic paint set for Christmas.

I hope everyone is having a safe and happy start to your new year.  Be sure to check out the dotticures the other Twinsies created below.

Florida Gator Nails: Citrus Bowl Nails

Happy New Year!  As my first mani of 2016, I've got my Florida Gator nails for yesterday's Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.  Unfortunately, the game didn't go very well (we lost to Michigan 41-7), but at least we made it to a bowl game again this year, and one on New Year's Day nonetheless.

For this mani, I decided to use the saran wrap marble technique.  I started with a base of China Glaze White on White on each nail.  Once dry, I added random blobs of unnamed orange and blue ColorClub helmet polishes.   I then squished the blobs around on each nail using a small square of saran wrap.  Once this dried, I added a coat of Seche Vite to smooth everything out.

I actually like how my right hand turned out better because there is more white on each nail, but I didn't take any pictures of my right hand.  I do like how this turned out and will also be wearing it to tonight's basketball game against Georgia.
