Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Fabric

Hello!  The Twinsies are back this week with manis inspired by fabric.  For my mani, I started searching Pinterest for patterned fabric to see if I could find inspiration.  When I previously had this prompt for another challenge, I decided to recreate the pattern on one of my shirts.  So I wanted to do something different this time!  I found this image and decided I wanted to recreate it on my nails.

For this mani, I started with a base of Parallax Polish Destiny.  Desting is an shimmery, icy blue (see swatches here).  To create the mottled orange and pink floral design, I used Born Pretty Store stamping polishes #10 (orange) and #11 (pink).  I have never tried using multiple stamping polishes at one time, but I love the results!  I put random drops of each color on the plate and then scraped the excess away, merging the colors.  I then picked up the image and stamped traditionally.

I absolutely love how this turned out!  The stamping is gorgeous (if I may say so myself) and I will definitely be doing more gradient and stamping using multiple colors at once.  I also really like how Destiny shines brightly underneath the stamping.  Overall, I am super pleased with how this turned out and received several compliments from family and friends.  Be sure to check out the other Twinsie's manis!

Nude Tribal Nails

Hello!  I'm back today with what I'm calling tribal nails.  For this mani, I started with a base of Nails Inc. Colville Mews.  I've used Colville Mews in several other manis this spring, most notably in my tulip nails.

To stamp I used the #11, the pink stamping polish, and plate BP-L-004, both from Born Pretty Store.  While this image isn't inherently "tribal," I felt the color combination the addition of matte topcoat lended a tribal look to this mani.  The matte topcoat I used from from L'Oreal, from their magic topcoat line from several years ago.  My trusty NYC Matte Me Crazy is finally starting to dry up, so I figured I would try out one of the other matte topcoats I own (the other is from Julep).

I hope everyone has a great weekend and the Twinsies will be back this coming Tuesday with manis inspired by fabric.  I can't wait to show you mine!

Sally Hansen Nail Strips - Coral and Green Floral

Hello!  Today's mani is kind of a Throwback Thursday, purely because I've had these nail strips FOREVER.  I wasn't even sure they would still be sticky when I opened the package.  I've been working on going through my collection and came across a bunch of nail strips.  When I first got into polish, I always dug through the clearance bin for nail strips and polish, and I'm fairly certain that's where these came from.  I absolutely love the pattern, which I'm sure is why I picked them up!

These are Sally Hansen real-polish nail strips in "Aflorable."  I surprisingly had good luck applying these.  They went on fairly easily with no bubbling, and I only ripped one.  My biggest complaint with nail strips is I feel like there are never any that actually fit my nails, so some are too narrow for my nail, while others I have to trim down.  The floral pattern appears to be cream and coral colored ferns over a light green background.

I really loved this look, but unfortunately they did not wear long.  Even with a coat of Seche Vite, they were chipping and/or peeling off the next day.  At least they were pretty while they lasted!  I hope everyone has a great weekend - we are going to see Amy Schumer on Sunday!

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Your Childhood

The Twinsies have changed our schedule around a bit, so we will now be posting bi-weekly, hence no post last week!  I also didn't get a post up at all, but should have a second post later this week.  This week's prompt is inspired by your childhood.  I decided to go simple for this prompt since I've been really busy the last few weeks.  Basketball was a big part of my childhood.  We grew up cheering for the Orlando Magic and I played basketball competitively until high school, when I became a band geek. :)

My mani was inspired by this mani by Aggies Do It Better. I started with a base of Zoya Destiny and then added the black stripes using black acrylic paint.  I love the slight yellow shimmer in Destiny, which really makes it a beautiful polish.

Overall, I'm not overly pleased with how this turned out.  It was kind of a rush to put this mani together, so I know I could've done a better job.  Oh well, be sure to check out what inspired the other Twinsies!
