Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Art

Today the Twinsies are back with nails inspired by art.  I've had trouble finding the original artist behind my inspiration, but I believe I have traced it's origin back to this post on Instagram (I originally found it while browsing on Pinterest).

For my mani, I started with a base of Zoya Chita on all nails except for my thumb.  Once dry, I stamped using orange stamping polish from Born Pretty Store and a random stamping plate I've had forever, which is labelled HN-020.  After stamping, I added one coat of Seche Vite to lock in the stamping and smooth out some of the textured polish.

On my thumb, I started with a base of Storm Chaser from the Defy and Inspire brand (a Christmas gift from my brother).  I then used straight nail vinyls to tape off the white (Essie Blanc) and orange (the BPS stamping polish) on my thumb nail, which I used to mimic the paint tube.

Unfortunately the image didn't stamp as well as I had hoped, so all the nails ended up covered in flowers for the most part.  I do like how this prompt made me think outside of the box a little bit and not just draw inspiration from other nail art or patterns I've seen.  Be sure to check out the other art inspired manis below!

Twinsie Tuesday: Forgotten Favorite

Today, the Twinsies are back with our forgotten favorites!  I have one of my first indie purchases, Scorpion and the Sea from Pretty and Polished.  Back in 2012 I purchased a grab bag of minis from P&P and received Heist, Phoenix, and Scorpion and the Sea.  Back in the day, I shared (some painful to look at) swatches of each polish.  I have used Heist the most since, but Scorpion and the Sea was definitely my favorite of the trio.

Pictured is three coats of Scorpion and the Sea.  Surprisingly, for a four year old polish, the formula was still impeccable.  Because I wanted to add a little nail art to this polish, I used chevron nail vinyls to create accent nails using Zoya Sarah.  I tried to match the metallic red glitters in Scorpion and the Sea by using a red shimmer polish.

I enjoyed this prompt because I got to pull a polish out that I haven't used in years.  In fact, I probably haven't used this polish since 2012 or 2013.  Overall, I do love how this mani turned out!  Be sure to check out the forgotten favorites of the other Twinsies below!

Black and White Floral Stamped Mani

Hello!  Today I my black and white mani for last weekend's #maniswapcircle prompt.  This week I was charged with recreating a mani by @manisha_m_nail_designs.  It was tough to decide on just one mani, but I decided to go with her blue and white china plate inspired nails to recreate.

For this mani, I started with a base of Essie Blanc on my index and pinkie fingers and Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Look to Stars on the other three nails.  I then stamped using the opposite color on each nail using stamping polishes from Born Pretty Store.  I also used the paisley bandanna stamping plate, Harunouta L020, that I featured last week.  Don't forget to use my code "FVL91" to receive 10% off your next order!

I then added gold accents on my ring and pinkie fingers.  I used nail vinyls to tape off a portion of my nail and used China Glaze Mingle With Kringle to create the gold stripe.  For the triangle nail sticker was an add on in a recent Julep Maven box.

Overall, I love this mani!  It is definitely my favorite so far of 2017!

Born Pretty Store Paisley Bandanna Stamping Plate Review

Happy Thursday!  Today I will be reviewing the Paisley Bandanna Pattern Nail Art Plate, Harunouta L020 stamping plate, which I recently received to review from Born Pretty Store.  This plate features a variety of different paisley designs, which are all fantastic for reverse stamping and lead-lighting.  This plate retails for $5.99, but is currently on sale for $2.99.

These were my New Year's Eve nails for ringing in 2017.  I started with a base of Sinful Colors Prosecco (channeling the champagne many imbibe at midnight), with an accent nail of Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer Look to the Stars (from the November Destination Duo), a beautiful black holo with blue and green flakies.  I then did some gradient stamping using blue and black stamping polishes from Born Pretty Store, and plate Harunouta L020.

I love how this mani turned out!  I used the clear jelly silicone stamper (which I previously reviewed here) again for this mani, and the images picked up perfectly.  If I could go back and change anything about this mani, I would have just stamped with black instead of doing the gradient stamping.  However, I like how the blue pops and adds another color to the mix.

Be sure to use my coupon code "FVL91" to receive 10% off your next order at Born Pretty Store! And shipping is always free!

Twinsie Tuesday: Nondominant Hand

Happy New Year!  I can't believe it's now 2017 (and my wedding is only three weeks away!) and Partly Cloudy With a Chance of Lacquer will be five years old this year!  I'm back today with the first Twinsie Tuesday post of 2017!  Our prompt today is "nondominant hand."  Yesterday was the Outback Bowl, which the Gators won 30-3 over Iowa, so of course I had to do Gator nails!

For this mani, I started with a base of China Glaze Stoked to be Soaked (orange) and I Sea the Point (blue).  I then added Piggy Polish Three Cheers and a Tiger, an orange jelly polish with iridescent hex and bar glitter over the orange nails.  To finish everything off, I stamped using blue stamping polish and the Russian Doll Pattern stamping plate, Harunouta L028, both from Born Pretty Store.  This plate is currently on sale for $2.39, and has a number of adorable images with the Russian stacking doll theme.  Be sure to use my code "FVL91" for 10% off your next order - and shipping is always free!

I have to say, the hardest part of this whole prompt was photographing my right hand!  Because my camera is setup to be used right handed, I ended up having to setup my tripod in order to get the pictures.  And then the posing was terrible!  Overall, I did like the final outcome!  Be sure to check out the nondominant manis from the other Twinsies!
