Twinsie Tuesday: Sparkle

Hello!  The Twinsies are back today with manis that sparkle!  I went simple with my sparkle mani and started with a base of L'Oreal Masked Affair, which I previously swatched here on the blog two years...  Masked Affair is a silver linear holographic polish, which leans lavender in some light.

I then applied red teardrop shaped rhinestones and clear oval shaped rhinestones to the top of my nail, to create a halfmoon affect.  While this mani is extremely simple, I think it is beautiful and shows a different side to "sparkle" since my first thought had been to do glitterbomb nails.

Be sure to check out the sparkly manis from the other Twinsies!

Purple Lightning

Sorry things have been so quiet around here lately!  Since we got back from our honeymoon, I have been busy at home and work, so I haven't had much time to blog!  I've got back-logged manis to share, many of which you've already seen if you follow me on Instagram.

Today's mani was actually my contribution to the February #maniswapcircle, which we all posted two weeks ago...  I was charged with recreating a mani by fellow Instagrammer, @aurorastucker.  It was fun to be paired with someone who I already follow and admire their nail art!  With my meteorology background, I was immediately drawn to this lightning bolt mani.

The theme for #maniswapcircle this month was rainbow - meaning everyone was assigned a specific color of the rainbow, so that the collage created a rainbow.  I was assigned purple, and knew I could recreate Aurora's fun hot pink lightning design in purple.

For my lightning mani, I started with a base of Sally Hansen Extreme Wear Lacey Lilac.  I then stamped using purple stamping polish from Born Pretty Store and plate 1-01 from UberChic Beauty's first collection.  I then used Zoya Aurora and lightning decals from Nails Redesigned for my accent nail.

I didn't even think about it at the time, but how appropriate was using a polish named Aurora when recreating a mani done BY Aurora. :)

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by the Season

Today the Twinsies are back with manis inspired by the season!  Since today is Valentine's Day, you will likely see lots of red and pink!  For my mani, I started with a base Nicole by OPI How Fairy Nice of You! a soft pale pink.  I then added a coat of Zoya Kissy to each nail to add a bit of sparkle.  Kissy (also an appropriate name for the holiday!) is made up of pink, red, and purple glitters with small holo bar glitters.

I then stamped using white stamping polish from Born Pretty Store and the Uberchic plate 1-01.  In hindsight, I wish I had stamped in red or pink, just because I feel like the white stamping gets lost.  That or done an additional coat or two of Kissy.  It is more noticeable in real life, compared to the pictures.  Overall, I like that this is a simple, but elegant design, and it's definitely Valentine's Day inspired!  My husband even liked how they turned out!

Be sure to check out the other Valentine's inspired by manis by the other Twinsies!

ILNP Daisy Jane

Today I have a quick swatch post for you!  I am slowly but surely working my way back into blogging after being MIA the last few months finishing up planning for our wedding, and then being on our honeymoon last week.  If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen a few pictures from the honeymoon, and I will hopefully have a few wedding pictures to add in the coming weeks!

This is ILNP Daisy Jane.  Daisy Jane is a soft, pale pink (lavendar-leaning on my skintone) with a holographic finish.  It is more of a linear holo, even though it isn't a strong linear.  This was one of the first polishes I purchased this time last year as contenders for my wedding nails.  Originally, I had thought I wanted to have pink nails, but ended up going with a nude holo (Julep Carrie Ann).

Daisy Jane has appeared on the blog once before, in a review of a stamper and stamping plate from Born Pretty Store.  Daisy Jane is a beautiful polish that I definitely can see myself wearing often.  ILNP polishes seem to have a slightly thicker formula than I prefer, but the end result is worth it my opinion.  Daisy Jane is still available on ILNP's website, for $10, so be sure to pick it up if you love this color as much as I do.

Have a great weekend!
